The "vicolo" (little street) Savelli is immediately adjacent Piazza Navona, and also near Piazza Campo de' Fiori. It is a quiet street. As mentioned also in the location presentation, in the quarter you find the highest concentration of Rome's monuments, sights, churches, fountains, characteristic little streets and squares, works of art, etc.
All most renowned Italian artists, including Bramante, Borromini, Bernini, Cortona and Michelangelo contributed to the works of art and masterpieces in this quarter. Yet the area is also one of Rome's most picturesque, with a multitude of characteristic restaurants, wineries, street markets etc.

This apartment was achieved from a little church (!), the chapel of the aristocrats who owned the 16th century palace in past ages. The cloister of the palace is attributed to Bramante (!). It is situated just after the front door. The cloister, like the entire palazzo, is extremely quiet.

Cloister by Bramante: the front door of the apartment is behind the central column of the left photo |
The apartment is approximately 80 sq. Mts. (app. 820 sq. Ft.), and it is at the ground floor, immediately facing Bramante's cloister. As mentioned, it is absolutely quiet. The entrance is followed by a foyer, which has quality and tasteful furniture. The entire apartment was tastefully designed, with fine fittings. As you can see, the apartment is endowed with the original 16th century "cotto" floors.
|
Entrance-foyer |
From the foyer one enters: the master bedroom (spiral stairs to the left), the kitchen (door to the left), the bathroom (closed door to the right, after the lamp), and finally the large sitting / dining room at its end.
|
Sitting-dining room |
The above photo shows the large sitting - dining room, as it appears at the end of the foyer.
The large space has high vault ceilings (6 meters high - 19 feet). The walls and the vault are elegantly designed with old fashioned patterns of the 16th century.
The sitting room is ample, and it includes two sitting areas, each with a table and two armchairs. One sitting area also includes a large sofa. Behind the sitting areas you find a large table with six chairs.
|
Sitting-dining room, opposite view |
As you can see, finest lamps, chest of drawers, small tables, fine paitings and drawings of old masters, and carpets complete this stylish room.
This large room has three lower windows, and four higher windows. It also includes two large built-in wardrobes (closets). Their doors have the same delicate pastel colour of the walls, and they cannot be easily singled-out in the photos. You can see their doors on both sides of the corridor bringing to the foyer, in the above photo.
The room is equipped with colour TV (with satellite dish to watch English-speaking channels, and also in other languages), a table with a Hi-Fi set (tuner, CD player), a telephone (free local calls included in the price) complete the room. A large air conditioner is placed in the sitting room in summer.
