This fine apartment is at the first raised floor of an original eighteen century palace,
located in the "Monti" characteristic quarter, where the architect and sculptor Bernini lived.
|
|
... and in the 2000 Rome Jubilee
|
|
|
The pictures show Via (street) Panisperna in 1880 (something to expect from
the "Eternal City"), in 2000, and finally the "palazzo" (palace) in the right photo. In this
street Fermi and his "boys" discovered the nuclear energy.
The palace is first to the left, with the arches in the ground
floor, facing another palazzo completely covered with ivy (in the heart of Rome!).
In the hall there is a nice frieze (click
on the name to see it). The foyer of the apartment is large (5 x 4 Mt), finely furnished
and with original sparkling eighteen century "graniglia" marble floor (like the entire apartment).
In the foyer there is also a built-in wardrobe (its door can be seen at the right of the
master bedroom door).
This impeccable and elegant apartment is 160 sq. meters (1680 sq. feet) large. It is
quiet and bright.
It was restored and restyled personally with utmost attention to every detail by the proprietor, a hospitable,
kind Doctor in Architecture, who is also an art decorator. The picture at the right shows the foyer |
|
The design and the beauty of the floor of the apartment hardly reveal its antique origin. From the two
windows the ivy-mantled facades of the palaces and the little craftsmen shops of Via Panisperna can
be seen.
|
Sitting room, seen from its door
|
The elegant double sitting /dining room is ample and very bright. The sun
rays illuminate the ample room, painted with delicate pastel shades. The room has elegant antique
furniture, the high vaulted ceilings with stuccos, and the original "graniglia marble" 18th
century floor.
There are two original 18th century sofas, which can be used also as beds, armchairs, a wooden
table with chairs.
|
Sitting room, opposite view
|
Fine paintings, lamps, a chandelier, a bookshelf, a built-in wardrobe complete
the furniture. The room is very ample (5x7 meters, 5.5 x 7.7 yards). We consequently had
to use special wide angle lens (the result is that the photos are slightly distorted - obviously
the room is not).
The bedrooms are well appointed.
The room with a king size bed (right) has a wardrobe, bedside tables, a set of drawers,
an armchair, pictures and a chandelier. An antique Venetian mirror can be found on the antique
set of drawers. The room has double glazing, for total comfort and quiet. |
|
In the opposite view (right) you can see the sitting room in the background
and also understand how large the apartment is.
The room with twin beds has a Venetian set of drawers, a bookshelf, a bedside table, a mirror.
The vaults are high and adorned by stuccos and a chandelier (like all the apartment). The
bathroom of this room is behind the white door, were one can find also a fine balcony closed
with coloured glasses. The bathroom is sparkling, with shower box |

After the foyer there is a passage space where one has access not only to the twin beds
room and to the sitting room, but also to the kitchen and to the master bathroom. The sparkling
master bathroom has both bathtub and hand-held shower. The kitchen has the normal appliances
(fridge, fires, oven). It includes also a microwave oven.
It is equipped with dishes, cutlery, pots, pans etc.
In the quarter there are many shops, cozy old fashioned groceries stores, a veg market (in Via Baccina), and a supermarket (in Via del Boschetto), so you will enjoy cooking.
|
|
Kitchen: all the appliances are brand new.
|
|
In the quarter there are many restaurants. You will find of course the Italian cuisine (with all its variants), but also that of other countries (French, Chinese, Japanese and even the best Indian restaurant in town). There are also many "gelaterie" (ice cream parlors), bars, confectionery shops, pubs, wineries for connoisseurs etc.
From the kitchen there is access to a large patio, which was just renovated.
By March 1, 2007 a table, chairs and parasol will be placed, to dine "al fresco". |
|

|
Finally, let us remember that the palace has a large roof garden terrace (communal) where
tenants can only sit for a while to watch the views (without dining, which can be done in the patio of the apartment).

From the terrace there is a marvelous view of the roofs of Rome, of the Coliseum
(which is quite near), Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, Palatine, Aventine, and of course of the
Monti quarter.

In Summer 2 large turning fans and 3 portable air conditioners are supplied (one for each room). There is a 27 inch. brand new colour TV (with digital satellite aerial-dish to see CNN, BBC, and all major international channels ). An iron with iron board is supplied.
