Campo de' Fiori, Via degli Specchi. "Caruso"
An elegant large studio - one bedroom apartment.
Ideal for 2 persons, it can host up to 4.
- Telephone,
- colour TV with satellite dish (BBC, CNN),
- air conditioning,
- washing machine,
- iron, iron board,
- stereo.
The apartment is appr. 65 square meters large (appr. 670 square feet), and it is located
in the Campo de' Fiori district, thus near Piazza Navona, Largo Argentina, the Jewish quarter,
the Sisto bridge and Trastevere. It is very silent, although the quarter is very lively,
bristling with craftmen, cozy shops, characteristic restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores.
The apartment was the home of an art dealer, who endowed it with many interesting elements.
Afterwords we renovated it, furnished and equipped it meticulously.
The door of the apartment is of massive nut wood, and dates back to the 17th century. |

The foyer includes interesting features. On one side (to the
left past the door) there is a large wooden built-in wardrobe with four doors, to store belongings,
clothes and luggage. To the right there are fine paintings (not shown in the photos), yet
the most peculiar features are an ancient capitel and a holy water basin embedded in the
wall. The foyer ends with two arches leading respectively to the dining area (left arch),
and to the sitting area (right arch).
The sitting-dining room is spacious, and with 5 meters (5.5 yds.) high-vault
wooden ceilings. There are two ample windows overlooking Via degli Specchi and the beautiful
palace, which is the seat of the Latin-American Institute of Rome. |

A large arch separates the sitting room from the dining room.
As mentioned, two windows face Via degli Specchi. On the opposite side to the windows, two
doors lead to the kitchen (left door in the above photo) and to the bathroom (right door
in the above photo). On this side, there is a study area, with a large 19th century
desk. Finally, at the end (opposite to the dining area) an elegant wooden stairs leads to
the large gallery room (loft), where the bedroom area is situated. |

A few fine aspects of the sitting room are worth being mentioned. Between
the window and the wooden stairs there is an ancient arch, which was part of an old door
of the palace. It is presently transformed to include shelves, with knick-knacks.
On top of the arch there is a part of an ancient capitel, with sophisticated marble pieces
decorating it (right photo, close-up).
Finally, as you can see in the photo above, below the wooden stairs there are built-in shelves,
and a table with colour TV with satellite dish to watch CNN and the majoer international
channels.
The apartment is equipped also with telephone with internet connectivity, colour TV with
satellite dish (to watch CNN, BBC etc.), iron and iron board, independent gas-run heating,
a perfectly working air conditioning (with external engine and internal blower, thus very silent, and with computerised
remote control), and a little communal patio to dry clothes. |
